The wedding party comes in on the Friday afternoon or evening to decorate the building and prepare. More typically, the wedding party comes in to decorate and set up on the Saturday morning. Usually weddings are in the afternoon or evening of Saturday with a reception to follow. John Gray Hall is a large building with a gymnasium, a stage, two classrooms, and a warming kitchen. Here, again, the wedding party usually comes in on the Friday to decorate and set up. JGH comes with the use of Cascara House, which is next door. This facility sleeps twenty-four and has an upstairs with four bedrooms (four bunk beds each) and a restroom; downstairs there is a small kitchen, meeting or gathering area, restroom, and two bedrooms with four bunk beds each. We recommend that brides rent tables and chairs for weddings at Greider.

Weddings are no different. Many people contact their homeowner's insurance agent and have an extension added to their homeowner's policy. If this is not an option then you will need to provide a certificate of liability coverage. It is a little more expensive, but covers you and your party for unanticipated events. Event requests are vetted through our programming staff to ensure continuity with our current offerings. Studios requesting four-wall events require special consideration. Salem Cinema will also consider rental for meeting space and non-film events during our off-schedule hours. Approved Theater Rental Program events are presented by outside individuals and organizations, rather than Salem Cinema. While ticket sales are frequently run through our ticketing system, ticket prices are set by the renter and ticket sales (minus nominal fees) are the renters to keep. The Theater Rental Program provides the community with access to one of Salem’s most unique and recognizable venues and is a very popular option for independent filmmakers premiering their new work, nonprofits* and community organizations wanting to educate the public about environmental, health or social issues through film or host a meeting or seminar that requires screen projection.**
