In the above case, nesting was intentional and we knew what will happen. But there is a case when nesting isn’t intentional and it can cause some trouble. For example, when you create a drawing with chairs and tables inserted as block references, technically speaking you are not nesting them. But if you insert that drawing file using insert block command into another drawing then they are nested. Well, there is no problem as long as your host drawing does not already contain equally named block definitions. The outcome of such move can be surprising. In best case, nothing unexpected will happen (unfortunately, that’s highly improbable). Most frequent scenario is that you have some more of the blocks you have had in the host drawing because “nested” block definitions (block references in a drawing you are inserting) are named equally to those in a host drawing, but redefined at insertion according to host drawing definitions. Although there are many possible combinations, as there are many outcomes, this would be my favourite one: block definition geometry not created on layer 0 (zero), but spread onto more than few layers, with insertion point way off the desired position (by mistake, as described in this post).
