Last updated at 22:00 04 December 2006 Two wedding party guests who killed a grandmother when they pushed an antique cart down a hotel staircase as a drunken prank are today facing jail. George Sindell and Grant Ingram, both 21, came across the 17-stone bath chair at the end of a wedding reception at an exclusive hotel. As a joke, they hurled it down a flight of 15 stairs at the same time victim Benita Brown was walking down them. The 82-year-old, a friend of the bridegroom's parents, was floored by the large wooden object which had been on display at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset. Mrs Brown, a retired nurse, suffered serious leg injuries which led to her death. She later suffered a heart attack which a pathologist concluded was caused by a blood clot brought on by the accident. Sindell, a plumber, denied manslaughter as a result of gross negligence but was found guilty by a jury at Winchester Crown Court. Ingram admitted the same charge at an earlier hearing.
Sentencing was adjourned but the pair face lengthy prison terms. Afterwards Mrs Brown's son Kevin said his family were pleased that those responsible had been brought to justice. He said: "It's blatantly obvious that those involved in the incident are responsible for the death of a wonderful woman and friend - a warm-hearted woman who did not deserve any of this. "Those responsible know who they are and what they did, and will have to live with this guilt for the rest of their lives." A court heard Mrs Brown and the two defendants were among 300 guests at the wedding reception of Gary and Laura Spark on August 27, 2005. Nigel Lickley QC, prosecuting, said: "At 11pm Mrs Brown and her friends Pauline and Ronald Spark, decided to leave and to do so they had to descend a large staircase. "Sindell and his friend Ingram had been drinking quite a lot of alcohol that evening. "They went upstairs, where they noticed the antique chair and Sindell began to move it.
"Such chairs are a feature of the Dorset area. They were horse or donkey-drawn and were used to allow people to travel around the seafront on sunny days. "The chair was positioned as an ornamental feature to illustrate the hotel's heritage. A witness recalls that the idea was to push the chair down the stairs for a laugh. He described Sindell as 'mucking about.' "It was heavy to move and difficult but he managed to get it from one side of the landing to the top of the stairs.knoll office chair instructions "It didn't go down initially because it got lodged and Ingram put his hands on the carriage. herman miller chair for gamingThere was a further push of the chair by Sindell and it went down the stairs.cheap table and chairs worthing
"Mrs Brown was two to three steps from the bottom as the chair made its descent. It passed between several witnesses and crashed into Mrs Brown. "Witnesses were obviously very upset and very angry." Ingram went home after the accident but Sindell decided to go out clubbing in Bournemouth and get a takeaway. The pair, both from Poole, handed themselves in to police the following day. Sindell told officers he had been drinking rum and Jack Daniels and coke from 8.30pm on the night, but was too drunk to remember the incident.stair chair lift rental nj Sindell and Ingram will be sentenced at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on January 12.used yew dining table and chairsIn this moving Real Wedding, Clare fromtable and chair rental rockwall tx
