The Nelson’s wedding was the epitome of "classic elegance!"
lucite chairs for rentFrom their a vintage wedding venue full of high ceilings, large chandeliers and ivory columns with ornate gold designs, to their regal color scheme of purple, ivory and gold, everything about their wedding had an air of royal refinement. Read below to see how their long distance romance, led to a sweet proposal and a lovely "vintage glam" wedding, and make sure to visit the gallery to see all of the gorgeous images captured by Amy Hutchinson Photography. (This wedding was featured in our most recent FW14 issue on newsstands now!!) Long distance love is definitely hard. Phone conversations, text messages and Skype can never replace the embrace of the one you love, but Kristin and Tyree were determined to make it work. They carried on a long distance relationship for two years before Kristen decided to move to Memphis to be with Tyree.

Over the next couple of years they learned a lot about each other, which allowed them to grow stronger as a unit, and it became abundantly clear to Tyree that God had blessed him with the love of his life! He was just waiting for the right time to propose. Christmas Eve was the perfect moment. Kristin decided to cook a romantic Christmas Eve dinner, just for the two of them; however, Tyree suggested that they make an event of it. He picked out a dress for Kristin to wear, put out some candles and started a fire in the fireplace. The couple always exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve, so when it was Tyree’s turn, he got down on one knee and asked Kristin to be his love forever. After they calmed down from the excitement, they slowed danced to “Forever,” by R. Kelly to commemorate the moment. Not wasting anytime, this thrilled couple began wedding planning the day after their engagement. The first order of business was to figure out a wedding theme that fit their personalities.

They knew that they wanted a classic, formal affair, so they choose a theme of “classic elegance.” Afterward, they began searching for the perfect, “Wow factor” venue, and they decided on the Historic Cadre Building in Memphis, TN. With its vintage 1930’s architecture, high ceilings, large chandeliers and ivory columns with ornate gold designs, it definitely had the classic and elegant feel the couple desired. They couple decided on a purple, ivory and gold color scheme, which was reflected in their wedding attire. Their bridesmaids wore beautiful one shoulder, chiffon, gowns in Lilac, and Kristin was radiant in an ivory ball gown that combined soft tulle and delicate lace with Swarovski crystal details at the waistline. Towering elegant arrangements of ivory feathers and flowers in purple hues adorned each table at their reception. Exquisite purple table linens, gold table numbers and silverware, and gold sequined chair covers really brought an elegant touch of regal sparkle to their décor.

The Nelson’s wedding was the epitome of class and luxury, but the most memorable moment for the couple was a simple moment that they spent alone. Kristin shares, “My husband and I both agree that the First Look was the most memorable part of our day. I will never forget the way that he looked at me for the first time on our wedding day, and it was nice to spend time with just him before the wedding. The first look did not take away from the moment that he saw me walking down the aisle. He took one look at me and got emotional all over again.” These are the moments that weddings are really all about! He loves my outlook on life. On our wedding day he gave me this letter: As I am sitting here thinking to myself I come down with joy knowing that I am about to marry my best friend. You came into my life through God’s blessing. God has given me a loving, caring, and gentle, woman and for that I could not ask for more. You have made me a better man over the years. I have been able to do things that I normally would not have done and it's because of you.
