In terms of construction and design it is identical to the Aluminium Chair. The attached padded sections form an interesting contrast to the elegant aluminium frame. They make the Soft Pad Chair softer and plusher, without detracting from its transparency and clear lines. The models comprising the Soft Pad Group are suitable for a large number of uses: in the office, in conference and reception areas, but also at home. Chairs and armchairs with medium-high and high backrest, with or without armrests, optionally with leather cushion sections. Side sections, flexible metal sections, armrests and base of polished or chrome-plated die-cast aluminium. Upholstery: cushion sections in Repp (81% wool, 19% polyamide) or cowhide nappa leather which are sewn onto the frame. Base available in four-star version, swivel or non-swivel, with glides for soft or hard floor coverings.

For the first time Vitra had not just a regular booth amongst the other brands, but their own hall. Vitra held their own fair within the fair and they called it ‘Work’. At ‘Work’ Vitra displayed their visions of how we live, work, cooperate in these new digital times. An entire day was simulated on a long stage reaching from dawn till dusk, all wrapped in a giant curtain symbolising the changing colours of a day’s sky.

Multiple office types displayed the evolving office typologies, from classical workspaces to newer forms of work habits reflecting the growing phenomenon of digital nomads. In parallel to the long Vitra stage an entire pearl string of booths from Vitra’s most renowned partners connected the furniture pieces to the systems surrounding them. Kvadrat, Bulthaup or Laufen – to name a few – presented their view on our changing world, each in their own unique way. But ‘Work’ was not only about the office spaces themselves, but also the technology changing them. Mercedes displayed their latest concept for the self driving car of the future, or how they like to interpret it; ‘why commute to work when soon you will be able to work on your commute?’. Swisscom showed an elaborate office measuring system, using NFV technology to accurately displaying the use of each working place. And then there was of course Archilogic, exhibiting the planning tools of the future.

Using the content surrounding our booth; Vitra’s furniture, Samsung’s virtual reality devices, and the latest office typologies from Vitra’s planning team, we showcased our web based 3d platform for interior spaces. The web is a key component in the work of tomorrow. It is the connecting element enabling free communication from any location, unifying the stakeholders and elements involved. 3d, as the second key component of Archilogic’s platform, is more than an intuitive depiction of space, it is the sum of all the elements defining a space. 3d is a semantic understanding of what a space consists of. Having this knowledge and also the connectivity of the web, numerous applications and functionalities can be added to the platform. From deep spatial analytics to collaborative planning. The list is nearly endless and so was the interest in our work. We were overwhelmed by interest in our solution as well as with the friendship and warmth coming from the visitors as well our partners at Vitra.
