A chair represents a sense of comfort and giving one support. Having a seat is a sense of luxury, a sense of rest and privilege. The Chair Affair is a gala that plays on the same concept of raising funds for the Furniture Bank, a charity who provides furniture to those in need. A house without furniture is nothing but a cold and lonely shell, receiving a gift of furniture fills those empty cavities and provides a sense of warmth and a place to call home. I will be redesigning an antique Queen Anne throne chair, taking it from its traditional form and bringing it to a modern masterpiece. Freedom of expression is the message behind this chair, allowing ones creative abilities to flow without restrictions. Merging art and structure to create something unexpected. I am happy this year to be supporting the 5th annual Furniture Bank “Chair Affair” event.

You can either donate well-loved furniture pieces to the Furniture Bank, a charity helping those in need furnish their newly acquired homes or update it by adding a new fabric and finishing touches. If you love refurbished furniture like I do , please attend and check out the Chair Affair happening on October 30th at the International Centre. All proceeds from this fun event go to The Furniture Bank and visitors are invited to bid on refurbished prices of furniture all designed by respected local designers.
