This innovative new product offers a variety of features including: high tech sensors built into the chair, which are designed to track vitals (heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, or body weight) plus the user’s weight distribution and a built in rowing mechanism that facilitates the workout. The monitoring sensors of this exercise chair send the collected vitals to either a smart phone, tablet PC or TV so that users will have instant access to their body’s performance during the workout, allowing them to monitor their health in an efficient and accessible manner.

This data, accumulated over time with use of the chair, will allow a “virtual health assistant” to provide personalized training and fitness programs (through the smart phone, tablet, PC, or TV) that can be altered with time to adjust to progress made by the client. Now, users can be safe, doing the appropriate amount of exercise for their level of fitness and health. The Fraunhofer Institute cites five goals behind the development of this product: “Preserve and support the autonomy of elderly in their own home, prevention through health monitoring and exercise encouragement, development of health promoting measurements sustaining a high degree of motivation, implementation of a holistic solution with intuitive user interface, high level of acceptance and attractive design, and enhance the quality of life and vitality [of ageing persons].”  This product will be of great use to people of all ages, but in particular the aging community. It will allow people to stay independent, but also stay healthy and give them easy access to exercise and feedback based on vitals and results from the exercise.

The chair is still in development, and is hoped to be released in the next year or so, with 2015 being the latest possible date for it to enter the market. It was tested at the Ambient Assisted Living conference in Berlin last year and got rave reviews from senior citizens who were able to test out the device. Feedback showed that out of the 100 seniors to test the product they preferred it over 15 other devices at the conference (GizMag). The company is working closely with senior citizens to cater the device to their needs, being that they are the target audience for this product. There are still more tests to be done with the product and with a little more fine tuning to make it the best that it can be, it will eventually enter the market for sale. Packaging & delivery costs vary greatly based on the quantity of chairs ordered and the delivery location, but typically run 5-10% of chair price. What is the warranty for Eustis Chairs? All Eustis Chair models come with a 10 year warranty against defects in material and workmanship. In addition, chair models manufactured with the patented Eustis Joint® come with a 20 year warranty against joint failure. How high can I stack my Eustis Chairs? Most of our stacking hardwood chairs stack 6-8 high. We have a few models designed for more frequent change-overs that stack 8-10 high. Do we need a dolly for our chairs? We have created a custom hand truck to move stacks of Eustis Chairs around your facility. We recommend one Transporter per 100 chairs. No dollies are required for storage. What type of wood does Eustis Chair use? We use whatever hardwood specie our customers require, as long as it meets our standards for strength and durability. Common hardwood species include Ash, Beech, Cherry, Hard Maple, Red Oak, White Oak, and Walnut. What fabric can I choose for my upholstered chairs? You can use any fabric that is commercially available and suitable for use on chair seats.

Are wood-seat chairs available with a cushioned seat?All but a few Eustis Chairs are available with either a wood seat, scooped and sanded for superior comfort, or a cushion seat, covered in a fabric of your choice. What wood stains colors do you offer? We offer any stain color you want. We offer a handful of “standard” colors that have proven popular, or we will create a custom color, including to match a stain sample provided by you. Please refer to our Wood Finish information sheets. Can you match the stain of my tables or millwork? Yes, we frequently match tables manufactured by other companies, as well as older tables that have a few decades of life left in them; we can also match your millwork. There is no extra charge for a custom stain color. What type of finish does Eustis Chair use? We use a durable Conversion Varnish which is hard enough to stand up to institutional use, and also flexible enough to remain on the wood on lesser dings. We have not yet found a water-soluble finish that we feel can meet the durability standards of chairs in our applications.

What bar stool and counter stool heights do you offer? Our barstools are designed for bar-height use, with a seating height at 30”. We also offer the same barstools at counter height, with a seating height of 24”. Custom heights can be arranged where necessary. What type of chair glides do you recommend? Our standard glide is a heavy-duty cushioned steel glide, which we recommend for most floors, including wood and other hard floors. When requested, we also offer a nylon glide for less noise, a domed plastic glide for carpet-only floors, and a felt glide for reduced noise and scratching (but with frequent maintenance). Yes, we can add a book holder to many of our chairs. Only some of the chairs are pictured with arms or tablet-arms. Can I add arms or a tablet-arm to any chair? With just a few exceptions, all Eustis Chairs are available with arms. We can also add a tablet arm to many of our classroom and library chairs. How should I care for and maintain my Eustis Chair? Eustis Chair takes great pride to build and deliver the highest quality hardwood chairs available. Please refer to our Care and Maintenance Guide.
