The rent is subsidized by Tacoma Housing Authority for 18 of the units, and we subsidize the rent for two of the units. All utilities are included in the rent. Case management is provided on an as-requested basis only. The complex is a Tax Credit property, set aside at 50%. Because of this, we cannot house fulltime students unless they meet a Tax Credit exception.

SRO 615 South G StreetThe client must also be diagnosed chemically dependent, in a state-approved chemical dependency program for at least 60 days and currently in compliance. The complex is two stories, 12 studio apartments, unfurnished, but includes wardrobe, stove, and refrigerator. Laundry service is available at 621 South Yakima Avenue. This is a two-year transitional housing program. Case management is provided and a requirement of the program. Campbell Court (1210 South Yakima Avenue)The client must also have a mental health case manager and protective payee. The complex is two stories, 12 studio apartments, furnished with bed, table, chair, wardrobe, microwave (no stove), and refrigerator. The rent is subsidized by Tacoma Housing Authority. This is a permanent housing program. Case management is provided by the mental health case manager only. MDC does not provide case management. The complex is at a 50% set-aside. Because this is not a Tax Credit property, student status is not an issue.

Avenue Apartments (721 Fawcett Avenue South, 3 rd Floor)The complex is on the third floor of our administrative building and has elevator access to the floor. 15 studio apartments, furnished with a captain’s bed with four drawers, table, two chairs, stove, and refrigerator. Laundry service is available onsite. All utilities are included with rent. Case management is provided and is a requirement of the program. The complex is at a 30% set-aside. Supportive Housing Program (SHP)These units are market-rate units that MDC rents and then sublets to the tenant at a subsidized rate, approximately 30% of the client’s income. We are not affiliated with these complexes except in a tenant/landlord relationship. These units are unfurnished. Appliances provided vary per complex. Clients pay their electric, all other utilities included. The program is at a 50% set-aside. To qualify for this program, the client must be chronically homeless. This is defined as currently homeless for at least one year or four (4) documentable episodes of homelessness in the last three (3) years.

The client must also be disabled or diagnosed chemically dependent, but does not have to be in a chemical dependency program.
