Frette Bed Linen Discover A rich heritage and a unique shopping experience The Woods family name has been associated with luxury linen since 1733, when a young William Woods started out as mercer in Laugharne, South Wales.
In the late 19th century, his grandson Thomas went to work at Knaresborough’s famous linen mill, bringing the family trade to Yorkshire. The Woods have lived in the region ever since, with Thomas’s son William Earnest Woods opening the family’s first linen shop on Princes Street, Harrogate in 1895. The shop was soon supplying the town’s major hotels, and its reputation for excellence quickly spread. Before long, it had gained royal patronage and was supplying many of Britain’s prestigious homes. To this day, Woods Fine Linens continues to uphold the traditional values that have earned us unparalleled respect and admiration worldwide. Our shop, now located on Station Parade, is a treasure trove of the finest linens sourced from all over the world, led by fourth generation family member William Woods, a BIID-approved interior designer and one of the best respected in the UK. A visit to our shop is a unique experience, with a working Edwardian lift to transport you between three floors of exquisitely presented linens, soft furnishings and accessories for the home, and all purchases wrapped in brown paper and string and carried out to your car.
