Little blond long hair girl has haircare by stylist. The cost to start up a hair salon business varies depending on the type of business. A small booth salon, where you rent a section of an existing salon as your own business, costs infinitely less than purchasing a large well-known franchise.
Both may share similar start-up costs, but the amounts will be different. Equipment In a booth rental situation, the salon supplies the chair, sink and hair dryers as part of the monthly rent. If you are purchasing an existing salon, you can negotiate the price of the equipment as part of the sale and some equipment will be part of the price as a fixture, such as the sinks, receptionist desks, booths and supply area. An existing franchise comes with the necessary equipment while a new franchise will involve an outlay of funds to purchase the equipment. Costs for equipment range from zero dollars for booth rental up to $32,000 at a franchise. The cost depends on the type of salon, amount of chairs and services offered. Supplies Supplies for a salon can become costly. Not only are there the products for use on the client for services, but there is also the cost of the products you sell. These prices depend on the brands, such as Matrix, Abba, Nexus or OPI, and can go up to $23,000 as an initial cost.
Other supplies include sanitizers, perm rods, hair capes, towels, cleaning supplies and a washer and dryer. Most salons require the hair stylist to provide their own scissors, blow dryers, brushes, razors and combs. Some salons provide clippers although many stylists have their own. Promotion One area you do not want to neglect is the promotion of your new business. The expenditure of this money can lead to the infusion of cash you will require over the next several months as you build up the business. Promotions can include radio advertising, television advertising, flyers in the mail or left on cars. Promotions prices can vary and range from a couple of dollars for the flyers to hand out up to $15,000 for the television spots. ⇑ back to top or click here to book online In Grandma's day, the Hair Salon was a daytime social gathering place for women; a place for friends to meet and be made while perms set and peroxide developed. Over time fashions changed, salons became barren and bleak and not much time was left for chatting to neighbours. Thankfully, The Powder Room sits perfectly between the comforts and ideals of the past, paying homage to days gone by. There are two floors; downstairs is dedicated to cutting, while rooms on the second floor are devoted to treatments, colour and special occasion hair. Each room has its own personality and being upstairs you are away from the hustle and bustle, able to enjoy great music, interesting magazines and a fun atmosphere. The Powder Room started out in Newtown in 2004; in a stripy vibrant shop with a collection of recycled fittings and fixtures, an in-house artist and the idea of a welcoming space for hairdressing. The Powder Room quickly grew with talented stylists and a great bunch of loyal clients and in 2011, having outgrown it's space, The Powder Room moved to Upper Cuba Street.
With its gold signage and familiar milieu/surroundings the salon has blended well into the historic Wellington area. We believe that good hair should come naturally so we work with you to create a style to suit you. All of our creative stylists are also expert colourists who are committed to regular ongoing training; tell us about your dream hair and we will give you ideas and inspiration. Being a Sustainable salon, we are dedicated to making sure your own green and ethical values are met, our stylists all follow the same vision of one where we seek to inspire and to be inspired both creatively and consciously. The Powder Room setting is an historic building which was saved from demolition in 2005 during the construction of the Inner City Bypass. It has been brought back to life with the recycling of its original timber panelling and matai floors. With Insulation and heating and cooling in an efficient clean way, the building has been moved and transformed into a comfortable, modern, character filled, beautiful salon. Click here to see the building during its move :: Transit NZ Wellington Inner City bypass The Interior of The Powder Room was fitted out by salon owner and designer Mark Ussher. Mark custom built workstations and recycled 1950s hood dryers into chandeliers. Other features with a nod to the past include the front desk made from old glass shower doors, the 1960s shampoo chairs upstairs in the colour lounge and an amazing 1930s glass chandelier. Locally made were the waiting chairs, coat rack and coffee table, deco mirrors and signage. When things are locally made it keeps local crafts people in work, saves on freight costs and fuel.
The Powder Room is proud to have one off bespoke pieces for future generations. Wherever possible, the salon uses recycled treasures and furniture but some salon fittings need to come from overseas. By purchasing high quality items, these become less likely to end up in the landfill.
