Before I buy new, thought I’d see if anyone has some they’d like to sell.” • Doreen, Berlin FPFI am no longing seeking hooks. A neighbor had some that were far more elaborate than I could have wished for and at an extremely reasonable price. Thanks Brian, and thanks Front Porch Forum for connecting us all!” • Doreen, Berlin FPF, next day Need new rocking chair in St. Johnsbury? “I’m writing to let you know how much I like FPF. I read it everyday! Such a wonderful way to connect with local folks. On Sunday I posted a pair of boots for sale and a request for a rocking chair to buy. On Monday I sold the boots and got 4 responses about rocking chairs. Today I spent the money I got from the boot sale on a wonderful rocking chair and had $5 leftover.

Another Front Porch Forum success story.” • Bonnie, Saint Johnsbury FPF Getting the word out about your group yard sale “Our families would like to send a huge Thank You to all who stopped by our group Yard Sale this holiday weekend that we held in Ascutney on Rt. 5. Many folks told us they saw the ad on Front Porch Forum. At least 5 families provided items for sale including a little guy (age 5) who cleaned out his own toys to make some money to buy a train he wants. It was fun to see him explain toys to little ones younger than him and get them to make a choice. Again, many, many Thank Yous!” • Linda, West Windsor FPF Grateful for engaged neighbors in Winooski Thank you to the folks who dutifully post our happenings, thoughts, advertisements and questions on the Winooski Front Porch Forum. Everything I have ever desired to sell has gone quickly and safely through advertising on the FPF. And, so it was again that my sofa and chair disappeared in record time.

It is time to donate to FPF as thanks, and I intend to make good on that promise. Expect my check this week. • Lynne, Winooski FPF Kindness of neighbors… priceless Lisa posted the following on the Front Porch Forum in West Windsor, Vermont, a few days ago… I came home this morning to grab my 4 winter tires (Nokian studded snows) and they were GONE! I paid $650 for those tires just last year so I could live here, so I could get to work, make a life. That was taken from me. I have no money to replace those tires and don’t know how I will be able to keep my job. The police can’t help. If anyone hears any rumors about someone selling used Nokian studded snows or knows of anyone who may have some information, please contact me… I guess this is a reminder to watch for ourselves and our neighbors. Maybe it’s a good time to introduce ourselves to our neighbors BEFORE something bad happens. Maybe together, as a community, we can have safe homes/neighborhoods to live in.

Thieves are obviously in the area 🙁 Although she has yet to recover her tires, the FPF posting did net something else for her and her neighbors… I want to thank the people in our community for the kind responses I received, after posting on Front Porch Forum. It was heartwarming to come home to several e-mails, offering kind words and even offers of tires! Unfortunately, none fit but the kind offers meant so much more than any set of tires. Tires can be replaced. The kindness of others is priceless. St. Albans FPF… fantastic! Earlier I posted a “FOR RENT” posting for my step-daughter for her house on the St. Albans City Front Porch Forum. We were inundated with requests. She has rented it and I appreciate all those who responded to my posting. T Posted by Mark for today’s FPF. Posted by Mark on the Jericho Front Porch Forum today… This is what FPF really shines at- avoiding craigslist and finding good homes for your treasures locally to people you actually know! M

y old workhorse has a new stable, as it were. Thanks FPF and the buyers of the saw! Sure beats dealing with scams… #VT – Just wanted to let everyone know I sold the iMac I posted the other day to another FPF member. Front Porch Forum sure beats dealing with scams from Nigeria on Craigslist. Shared by Dana with her Shelburne neighbors today. ere’s what you do… Dave in Bristol #VT just shared this nugget. He had a trampoline he was looking to unload. He listed it on Craigslist Vermont for a month… no calls. Almost immediately after posting it on the Bristol Front Porch Forum he heard from seven neighbors! I wish I had 7 to give away after the responses in the first hours after posting. We hear this kind of thing again and again. FPF can be a super-effective way to buy, sell, give away, etc. The big differentiator… your posting reaches people who are not actively looking for what you have/want. But when they read your FPF posting, some of them think… “
