Our house is 2.1 miles from the border of San Francisco with easy access to downtown SF or the airport. Our home is located high in the Brisbane hills, which is why we have such amazing views. That said, I highly recommend a rental car, or your own vehicle. There is public transportation, but it requires a mile walk to the stop and the return walk is all uphill! Driving times to downtown vary depending on time of day and traffic. During late morning until about 2pm, traffic is relatively light and easy to navigate. During rush hours, it can take up to 45 minutes to reach, for example, Fisherman's Wharf or Chinatown. Just outside the back door there are trails leading to the San Bruno Mountain State Park. You'll catch glorious sunrises if you're up early enough and, in the early evening, the wonder of a thousand pink sparkles across the Bay. Our home is strictly limited to four guests at a time. The house is very comfortable decorated with European antiques and modern textiles.
The wrap around living room window gives stunning views with the option of curtains to block out the sun. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and friendly. The entire home is yours during your stay with private parking for one car. The house is freshly painted with new carpeting, flagstone, and hardwood floors. Wrap-around deck with seating to enjoy the views. Full kitchen with dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, frig, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, and toaster oven. Dishes and glassware for 8, and a bay window to enjoy more scenic views. Flat-screen TV w/cable and wireless internet throughout the house. There are several stairs from the driveway to the front door, but we have installed a walkway leading from the street to the back kitchen door with only one step. If stairs are a challenge or you have a lot of bags, this is the best way to go! We have also installed motion lights at this entrance and in the driveway. There are accent lights on the stairway operated inside the house should you go out and return in the evening.
We will not be on site, but have a wonderful woman/neighbor (across the street) representing us to welcome you and answer all your questions. We also have a long-time tenant in our lower unit (separate from house) who is available in case of emergency. We respond quickly to any calls or emails. As a complimentary welcome gift, we leave a bottle of wine for each guest. Brisbane is a historic small town sharing its border with San Francisco and minutes away from the airport. The town is hilly with unique one-of-a-kind homes. During the Xmas holidays many of the residents light huge stars, a tradition that goes back several decades. Downtown is small, but offers a wonderful coffee shop where the locals gather, a mid-size market, wash/fold and dry cleaner, salon, library, and several restaurants. Our welcome book is full of menus, maps, and locally owned businesses. The house is within minutes of highway 101 and 280. Two minutes down the bottom of the hill is a parking lot to catch the train or bus.
