office chairs on pawn stars

21 de marzo de 2017 Mark Hall-Patton has appeared in ‘Pawn Stars’ (History channel) more than any other expert. His passion for history has no limits, not even in the more than 20,000 books he owns that help him to value and contextualize the objects that arrive to the pawn shop. By the way, he never puts a price on these objects; that’s not his job. He is the Administrator of three museums in the Clark County Museum System in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), but he is more recognized for his beard, his red shirt and his Atwood wide-brimmed hat. He likes to collect everything that may be related to bridges. When he was eight he built his first ‘museum’ using objects he collected from his own house. This is the first interview he gives in Spain. Despite his popularity, he strongly protects his private life. He describes himself as a ‘boring’ person, who does not know much about sports or politics, just history. Rick Harrison usually refers to you as ‘the beard of knowledge’.
What’s your opinion on this? “The Beard of Knowledge” is quite a flattering reference. I hear it constantly from the public these days. It does not bother me, especially since I have worn a beard for 40 years. Working as a museum director sounds like a peaceful job… Has Pawn Stars changed your life in any way? Have you ever felt overwhelmed by popularity? Having been in the museum field for 39 years, I can assure you that I did not go into the field to be widely recognized. Museology, or museum studies, prepares you to be behind the scenes, caring for and presenting artifacts, not on television shows shown in 151 countries. Most of the time I enjoy the fans and the notoriety which has come with the show (and the 14 other television shows I have shown up on). However, the fact that my wife and I cannot go out to dinner or travel without being recognized can be problematic at times. It has done what I wanted it to though, which is increase the attendance at the Clark County Museum.
In Pawn Stars, do you feel under pressure when determining whether a historical article is fake?bean bag chairs faux suedeI am acutely aware that any time I am on camera speaking about an artifact, it is up to me alone to be correct in my assessment, or at least as much as humanly possible. used chairs for sale in karachiIt is my reputation on the line any time I speak, not that of the Pawn Shop or the show. canvas deck chairs sydneyBut that is all right, and I accept the role. pride lift chair rentalsIf I was not willing to accept the pressure, I would not go on the show.fishing chair for sale sheffield
Do you think your explanations have helped American society being more interested in history?buy genuine eames chair I certainly do not have sufficient ego to say that American society as a whole has changed, but I am very pleased when people tell me that they have learned about history and have felt the excitement I feel about discussing history. bean bag chairs in denverI am most thrilled when youngsters, from age 5 and up, tell me they have become interested in history. buy massage chair glasgowAny time I can help a young person learn how exciting it is to understand how we became what we are today, I am thrilled.tiffany chairs bulk buy
How would you define your colleagues Richard ‘Old Man’, Rick, Corey and Chumlee? First, I like all four of the main folks. My wife and I attended Rick’s wedding a couple of years ago, and I have gotten to know them all. To speak to each one, I would say the Old Man reminds me of my father, who was also a Navy veteran. He is grumpy, but a very nice person. Rick is an smart man, but not college trained. He is intensely curious, someone who is always learning and reading. Corey is the grandson, who enjoys having fun and riding his motorcycle. He has also grown up in the pawn shop, and understands the business, but does not have his father relentless curiosity. Chumlee, whose real name is Austin Russell, is a “hale fellow well met” type of person. He has been a friend of Corey’s since Junior High School, and to a great extent grew up in the Harrison home. He is not stupid, but is way more focused in his areas of interest. He definitely knows more about Nike tennis shoes and video games than I ever will.
The program has been running for several seasons. Is there any anecdote about Pawn Stars that you remember in special? We actually just finished the 13th season of the show for US television. I must say that there have been a few pieces which have thrilled me, but none as much as the chair US Senator Patrick McCarran used in the Senate Chamber. He was extremely important in Nevada and US history, but with the research I had done when I went in to shoot the episode, I thought it would have to be a fake. Normally, the only way you can own a Senatorial chair is if you buy your own when you leave office. McCarran died in office, which would probably preclude the sale. However, as I talked to the seller, it turned out that his employees had given it to him when he retired, and they had purchased it at the estate sale of a woman named Eva Adams. Since I had done my research, I know she had been McCarran office manager, had stayed on to manage the Senatorial offices of the next two Nevada Senators, and then had become the Director of the US Mint.
This was a woman who was a high school librarian and had become a very important part of the US government. I was thrilled the chair turned out to be real, and it is currently on loan to the Clark County Museum where it is on display. Plainly speaking… what do you think of Donald Trump Administration? In terms of President Trump, I will say that had there been a better Democratic opponent, I don’t think he would have won. However, he did and is our president. I think that much of what people have problems with is foolish and overblown, and reflect a consistent and concerted effort to mischaracterize him. I was certainly scared by our previous president, and thought much of what he did was harmful to the United States, and if Trump did exactly what Obama did, he will be excoriated for it, where Obama was praised. I think we are seeing a movement across the globe away from globalization as a given, which reflects a problem with elites not understanding how to present ideas and political efforts.
If any person in a leadership role, in any group, loses sight of those being lead and their needs wants, fears, etc., we will always see the people deciding on change. Oscar Wilde said that “the only duty we have with history is to rewrite it”. While I enjoy greatly Oscar Wilde’s epigrams, I do not agree with this one. In this case, I think our duty to history is to know it and tell it to the best of our ability, the good and the bad. I think we are all individually responsible for knowing our own history, and why things are the way they are, which means we must always keep learning. There are very few words more aggravating to me than “Nobody knows about …” or “I am sure no one has ever thought about …” But then again, I am an historian, and have been one all my life. — eslang (@eslang) March 21, 2017 También repartimos a domicilio: Únete a nuestro canal de Telegram Habla con nuestro bot en Facebook Nuestro bot de FB semanal en tu email
