She did her fellowship training in rheumatology here and was a clinical research fellow with the Vasculitis Translational Research Program. She is hoping to continue her clinical research interests in vasculitis here with the fellows and residents. Beth K. Rubinstein, MD Medical School: VCU School of Medicine Dr. Rubinstein joined the VCU faculty in 2007 as a clinical rheumatologist and educator.  She plays a large role in the education of the Internal Medicine Residents as well as medical students and fellows in Rheumatology.  She currently serves as the course director for the MII Musculoskeletal Disease Course.  Dr. Rubinstein has received awards excellence in teaching and clinical service.  She has an interest in systemic lupus erythematosus and related diseases and looks forward to participating in clinical research in these areas. Joseph P. Iannotti, MD, PhD Chairman, Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute Maynard Madden Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery Joseph P. Iannotti, MD, PhD, Chairman, Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is Co-Director of the Orthopaedic Research Center and has a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Iannotti joined the Cleveland Clinic in 2000 having been on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania for 20 years. He left the University of Pennsylvania as a tenured Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Head of the Shoulder and Elbow Service. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University in 1979 and his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. He did his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Pennsylvania from 1979 to 1984. Dr. Iannotti's clinical practice is focused on the treatment of the shoulder, and his primary interest is in the management of complex shoulder problems in joint replacement and rotator cuff tears.

His practice includes both open and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder. His clinical and basic science research program also focuses on innovative treatments for tendon repair and tendon tissue engineering. His research program involves the study of shoulder biomechanics and prosthetic design. Dr. Iannotti has published two textbooks (both in their second edition) on the shoulder and has authored 210 peer-reviewed articles, as well as book chapters. He has won numerous awards for his academic work from the American Orthopaedic Association and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He has served in many leadership roles at the national level, which include Chair of the Academic Affairs Council and the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, he has served and chaired several committees of the Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and is Past President (2006-2007) of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. Dr. Michael A. Mont is Chairman Orthopaedics at Cleveland Clinic Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute. Prior to this post he was the Director of the Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore, Maryland from 2000 to 2016. He was also an Associate Professor of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Formerly, he graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Natural Sciences and he received his medical degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine in 1984.  He did his orthopaedic residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City (1984-1989) which was followed by a lower extremity fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1989-1990). He specializes in adult hip and knee joint preservation, replacement surgery, osteonecrosis, as well as complex joint arthroplasty revisions.  He actively participates in many research studies in the areas of joint preservation and arthroplasty with over 100 grants and greater than 600 publications.  

Dr. Mont is a member of the Knee Society and Hip Society and is on the editorial board of many orthopaedic journals, including being an Associate Editor for the Journal of Arthroplasty. Abby Abelson, MD, FACR Chair, Department of Rheumatic and Immunologic Diseases Dr. Abby Goulder Abelson is a very familiar face within the Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University where she has served as the Co-Course Director since 2005. She is also a Physician Advisor to the students, the Rheumatology Elective Rotation Coordinator and a Basic Science Education Committee member. Dr. Abelson is the Chair of the Department of Rheumatic and Immunologic Diseases at the Cleveland Clinic. She is also Vice Chairman for Education for the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute, as well as Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Abelson grew up in Shaker Heights, and received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Abelson completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, where she was chosen to be Chief Resident.
