pride lift chair ratingsThere is always a need for volunteers to help pick up and deliver the items. Volunteers are placed on an email list and notified of dates, times and locations for pickup/deliveries. Typically we try to schedule Saturdays, however, weekdays are also a possibility.
Because it is understood that a volunteer may not be able to help at all times, we are always in need of more able bodied volunteers. You do not need a truck to be a part of this ministry. We are able to accept most gently used furniture and household items (including couches, chairs, dining tables/chairs, side tables, lamps, mattresses in good condition, dressers, pots/pans, utensils, towels, sheets, etc.) We are unable to accept large tube TV’s. We will accept washers and dryers IF we have a family who needs those items. We generally pick up on Saturdays. Because of limited storage space, not all furniture items may be available at any given time.
The list at the bottom of this webpage is a resource to obtain furniture for those in need. Most organizations provide a voucher for either St. Vincent DePaul or Goodwill. Clients need to contact the organization that is listed within their respective zip codes. Do not simply show up without an appointment. In most cases, clients will need to provide their own means of picking up the furniture. NW Furniture Bank is the source of furniture for agencies in Pierce County. NWFB collects and warehouses furniture for qualified member agencies. NWFB serves victims of domestic abuse, people suffering loss from fire and natural disasters, foster homes and especially families coming from transitional housing who are trying to rebuild their lives. The furniture will be made available only to the clients of case workers. NW Furniture Bank is a faith-based organization dedicated to helping people who have suffered tragedy. NW Furniture Bank accepts donations of furniture, volunteers and cash.
For more information visit their website or call their offices. Hope Furnishings is the retail department of the NW Furniture Bank. The store helps sustain the work and mission of NWFB, through the resale of selected new, gently used and vintage furniture and decor donations. Revenues generated from retail sales may then be used to purchase high demand items such as twin mattresses and small dressers most suitable for our furniture bank clients, resulting in greater efficiency of inventory management for the benefit of the families served by NWFB. A $100 purchase at Hope Furnishings makes it possible for NW Furniture Bank to buy a twin bed. Hope Furnishings accepts Visa and Master Card, debit or credit and cash. Delivery is available to a limited service area for an additional fee. Location: 117 Puyallup Avenue, Tacoma (Tacoma Dome District) Hours: Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 6 p.m. Donations of quality, usable furniture are always welcome. This is not a way to dispose of worn out or broken furniture.
Dilapidated furniture has to be discarded by the organizations which takes needed funds away from service in order to pay for disposal fees. Donations are received by Goodwill (272-5166) and Saint Vincent dePaul (474-0519) at various locations in Pierce County. Call first for locations and hours.
