Some chairs have adjustable legs which allow you to adjust the height as needed. If the chair does not have adjustable legs you can raise the seat height using chair raisers under each leg of the chair. Seat Depth The seat should support the length of the buttocks and thighs.

The front edge should curve downwards, ending two or three finger widths behind the knees to avoid pressure behind the knee. If the seat is too deep the back will not be supported. Seat Width Seat width should allow a small space on either side of the body, and be close enough for the armrest to be directly below the shoulders. Firm Seat The seat should be firm enough to make rising easier and support good posture, yet still be comfortable for long periods of sitting. Supportive Backrest The backrest should support the natural curves of the spine. A lounge chair should also provide support for the head and neck.
