A family was left stunned when their patio table “exploded” in the summer heat. Mum Terrie Moyles, 46, and her eight-year-old daughter Hollie heard a “very loud noise” from the garden when the glass on their Asda garden table shattered under the glaring sun. Daughter Hollie, eight, stands beside the shattered patio set Terrie, from Watford, looked outside to find a “million pieces” of glass everywhere. She said: “We ran back outside and saw the table – it had exploded into a million pieces and there was glass everywhere. “We were both so shocked, and Hollie was upset too. We could have been out there when it happened. “I rang Asda because as a mum I was worried this might happen to another child. Fighting for his life Legs like a racehorse! “I didn’t want compensation or anything, I just wanted them to look into it before it happened again and a child – or anyone – was seriously hurt.” The supermarket giant told Terrie that the incident, which happened on June 6, was a one-off and that she should return the product herself.

Asda said its staff could not collect the table and chairs, which cost £120, due to the risk of injury.
